GALERIE KOMMOSS helps to conserve the Japanese cultural heritage

Some of our older art works need a special treatment before offered on our website. Like a 18th century Nagasaki-school painting of a tiger does that we have recently acquired. The painting gets currently a fresh mounting at our conservator in Japan. The image shows how the old backing paper of the damaged mounting was recently removed. The backing paper is the basis for the mounting and glued together with the painting's material. Since the surface of old paintings might be weak or damaged, the removal must be done very carefully by a specialist. In our case everthing went fine and we are curious to share the result of the restoration of this wonderful painting with you soon!
