Two Generations, Two Distinct Jars

Two generations, two distinct jars: these beautiful Shigaraki mizusashi 水指 (fresh water jars) were made by father and son: Takahashi Rakusai III 三代高橋楽斎 (1898-1976) (left one) and Takahashi Rakusai IV 四代高橋楽斎 (*1925) (right one). Both of them are outstanding examples for preserving Shigaraki‘s old tradition of wood fired unglazed ceramics in Japan.
