Artists

Galerie Kommoss presents works by a carefully selected group of artists whose practices are deeply rooted in Japanese artistic traditions. The gallery’s program encompasses historical figures as well as selected modern and contemporary artists, with a focus on continuity of practice, material understanding, and cultural context.

Particular attention is given to artists whose work is connected to Zen culture, the Japanese tea ceremony, and traditional craft lineages. Rather than emphasizing stylistic novelty, Galerie Kommoss values artistic integrity, historical awareness, and sustained engagement with materials and form.

The gallery’s artist selection reflects an understanding of Japanese art as a continuous cultural practice, in which historical and later works can be meaningfully considered alongside one another.
